How We Started

What started as a fun family project trying to design the "perfect" boat ended with the forming of North Pacific Yachts in January 2004 when the first NP43 arrived in Seattle for the Boats Afloat Show. At the time John and Trevor Brice had been boating in the Pacific Northwest for 23 years and owned several different boats ranging from 12-44 feet, from slow trawlers to fast planing hulls. We always found ourselves complaining about the way things were installed, the lack of storage or the poor layout. From our experiences we knew we wanted to have a yacht with good visibility from a pilothouse, a full beam spacious interior, covered outside areas, no exterior teak, easy access to all equipment among many other things. We worked on the design of the NP43 for years until one day we drew it up with chalk to scale on the pavement and asked a naval architect to look at it and put it into AutoCad. From there we spent another year working with the factory John had sourced in China and tweaking the design until we knew we had exactly what we were looking for.

North Pacific Yachts was founded with the vision of bringing quality motor yachts to buyers who expect the most for their dollar, from good design to brand name equipment and solid construction. We have achieved this by cutting our North American marketing and overhead costs while at the same time increasing our production volume at the factory in China - not by sacrificing quality. By striving to provide the most efficient and direct distribution of yachts possible we are able to offer our well-made, well-equipped yachts at incredibly good prices.

All North Pacific Yachts are built to strict construction standard with modern materials like vinylester resin, NIDA core and tinned wire. Our yachts are all well-equipped with extensive standard equipment. North Pacific interiors are designed to provide maximum useful living and storage space while always allowing EASY access to ALL equipment and wiring runs. The interiors are finished by skilled craftsmen with real teak while the exteriors are made solid and and require little maintenance.

We now have a full-time service company in Oak Harbor, WA, called North Pacific Yacht Service. NPYS is responsible for US commissioning, warranty and service. We will add more about NPYS soon.
