After almost 40 years in James Bay, Trotac Marine is moving from Ogden Point to a new location at 370 Gorge Road in December. The marine supply store ended a leasing battle with the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority over rising rental costs and decided to purchase an 18,000 square-foot facility.
“We’re still close to the waterfront,” said partner Campbell Thomson. “Because it’s a bigger building there is room to grow and it will allow us to bring everything under one roof. We’re going to be able to show more of our products as well as carry different, larger products. We’ll also be expanding our product lines.” Thomson estimates the move will be completed by mid-December. The company has been family owned for two generations and will celebrate their 40th year in 2012.
