ImageIn this, our annual Eco-Boating Special, we explore a variety of issues relating to recreational boating and the marine environment—a subject dear to the hearts of many readers who value and respect the wonderful gift of B.C.’s coastal cruising grounds. We’ve compiled articles about the garbage crisis at sea, plastic contamination of the food chain, reckless whale-watching behaviour, the effects of noise pollution on marine mammals and more. Some of the photos in this issue are disturbing, and we debated long and hard whether to include them. In the end, however, we felt they portrayed the extent of the situation far better than words could.
