Following damage
suffered by a rollover in the Atlantic, Glenn Wakefield has abandoned his solo,
non-stop ’round-the-world quest. Wakefield, who set out from Victoria aboard
his Cheoy Lee Offshore 40, Kim Chow,
on September 23, 2007, was on his way to being the first North American and
only the fifth sailor ever to make a single-handed circumnavigation against the
prevailing westerly winds in the Southern Ocean.

previous location in Pierre’s Bay (Scott Cove) will be available at
Echo Bay, including the cinema, pig roast, Lady Di’s bakery and weekly
