Boston Whaler’s 50th birthday party will be held in Snug Cove, July 13. Boston Whaler owners and fans are invited out to Union
Steamship Marina in Snug Cove July 13, for an afternoon of festivities
and a barbecue with Whaler’s senior management team to celebrate the
company’s 50th anniversary.
Hosting the event is Coal Harbour’s M&P Yacht Centre team, who hope
the event will draw “any and all Boston Whaler owners for a day of fun.”
“We’re going to have a few product demos, and we’ll probably break out
a game of bocce,” said Jane MacDonald of M&P. “We’re supplying a
rather large birthday cake and there’s been talk of a chainsaw—though I
don’t know if it’s for the cake or one of the boats.”
As most fishermen know, the Whaler’s construction is rather unique; the
boat’s high-density, non-absorbent foam core allows it to remain afloat
after literally being cut in half.
The birthday celebration for the “unsinkable legend” also doubles as a
launch party for M&P’s new Boston Whaler owners’ club, and owners
can learn about the benefits of membership. The event will take place
on the lawn of Doc’s Restaurant between 12:00 and 18:00. Contact Jane
Macdonald at 604-692-0333, ext. 4223 for more information or to R.S.V.P.
