Several properties in the Broughtons area have changed hands in the past year or so, including Sullivan Bay, Farewell Harbour and Windsong Sea Village at Echo Bay and the Quarterdeck Inn & Marina Resort in Port Hardy.
Minstrel Island was shut down for a few years before being taken over last year by new owners; it is not yet known whether it will be open to the public in the future.
Double Bay was operating as a fishing lodge and was not available as an overnight stop in the recent past, but now the facility will be welcoming visitors under its new name, Pacific Outback Resort (www.pacificoutbackresort.com). New docks were added as well as more small fishing boats for lodge guests. The restaurant will be open to visitors, and some supplies, including freshwater, are available.
The marina at Greenway Sound Marina Resort (www.greenwaysound.com) will be open this year, but regretfully owners Tom and Ann Taylor will not be operating the kitchen. Instead, the store will offer new take-out items in addition to its usual espresso, ice cream and desserts.
