This is the Emma Maersk, the cargo transport that supplies Wal-Mart. She  can hold 15,000 containers, has a  207 ' beam and is operated by a crew of 13! The Emma Maersk is too wide to pass through the Panama Canal, and operates exclusively in the Pacific. At 31 knots, she outpaces regular cargo ships by 13 knots, getting  products  from China to the West Coast in 4 days!

She was built in Denmark in 5 individual sections, which were then floated and assembled.

Width - 207 ft

Net cargo - 123,200 tons

Engine -  14 in-line cylinders diesel engine (110,000 BHP)

Construction  cost - US $145,000,000+

 

She has a silicone paint job on the bottom to reduce friction.
