The Inside Passage: Route Planning Maps, published by FineEdge Productions ($29.95). With government charts covering almost the entire coast and GPS systems becoming increasingly sophisticated, one wouldn’t expect that it’s possible to come up with something entirely new in the way of paper-based charts. Yet that’s exactly what FineEdge have done with these two route-planning maps for the south and north portion of the Inside Passage.
Each beautifully-rendered full-colour map shows all of the popular routes and stops along the coast, while the reverse side indexes thousands of place names, providing the geographical location, nautical chart number, and GPS waypoints for each. For the mariner, this provides the perfect reference for planning routes, and for moving from one chart to the next.
