I sat on the hill looking down across tangled vines and out past the forest toward the Gulf Islands. Colin Sparkes sat beside me, gesturing toward the vineyard below, his voice rushing along. I was captivated by the view but caught something about how many vines were planted per row and how they would soon form some sort of canopy called a Geneva double curtain. Then I drifted off again.
