New Facility for Lake Union Yacht Centre PDF Print E-mail
In order to relocate its 85-ton Travelift, the boatyard suspended it from Foss Maritime’s historic 300-ton barge crane and motored down Ship Canal to its new home.Answering the demand for increased services, Seattle’s Lake Union Yacht Center (LUYC) has relocated its entire operation from North Lake Union to the LeClercq Marine building, just east of the Ballard Bridge.

With more than double the square footage, the new 70,000-sq-ft facility allows the full-service boatyard to haul out boats up to 85 tons, making it one of the largest haul-out facilities in Seattle. LUYC has also doubled its number of employees.

With the new completely enclosed, state-of-the-art building, the company is now able to serve larger, long-term refit projects that require being out of the water for a period of time—and in an environmentally safe way. In addition to equipping the yard with systems that collect and retain toxic substances, the new building will contain any industrial pollutants with 100-percent efficiency.

LUYC can now be found at 1080 W. Ewing St., Seattle, WA. Contact them at 206-378-0796 or www.luyc.net .
