Victoria’s Whitehall Rowing & Sail will be delivering two new additions to the Vancouver Lifeguards’ fleet of rowing rescue boats.
Over the years the older, heavier, wooden rowboats used by the lifeguards for patrolling the beaches have been gradually retired as wear and tear and decay has taken its toll. They are being replaced by the West Coast 11.6 Lifeguard model custom designed and built by Whitehall to fit their unique requirements.

They feature lap strake fibreglass hulls, extra reinforcements where needed, hard-wearing teak woodwork and special bronze castings. These new models will not require the annual repair and maintenance of the old wooden models and are designed to be in service for decades to come.
