Georgia Strait Alliance is celebrating Maple Bay Marina, which has recertified with Clean Marine BC and achieved a continued top 5‑Anchor rating. An Eco‑Certified member since 2010, Maple Bay Marina continues to demonstrate leadership in coastal stewardship through its eelgrass protection zone, long‑term dock‑replacement project and exceptional recycling and waste‑management systems. The marina also supports regional preparedness such as hosting Clean Marine BC spill‑response training this past winter, strengthening both environmental protection and community resilience. Make sure to follow for upcoming training sessions.
With more than 70 years in operation, Maple Bay Marina has undertaken major infrastructure improvements, including extensive dock management and on-going replacement. These upgrades require substantial financial investment, long‑term planning and a high level of staff skill and dedication with the heavy task of removing aging styrofoam flotation and creosote‑treated pilings, an effort that directly reduces pollution risks and protects marine habitat. This same level of skill and commitment is reflected in the marina’s well managed pump-out service and fuel dock.
This 5‑Anchor certification recognizes the consistent attention to detail shown by management and staff, whose pride in their work is evident throughout the facility. The marina’s sustained investment in environmental improvements, combined with the dedication of its team, demonstrates how long‑term commitment and thoughtful planning can drive meaningful environmental performance and support the health of the surrounding ecosystem.
