All Bay is growing. Where once stood a neighbourhood pub now lies the latest and only marine self-storage development in the CRD.
Scott Davies of Cube Project Management Ltd. has owned the Harbour Haven Marina property since the Pandemic. It used to be the Blue Peter Pub, but it burned down in 2011. After the owners sold the property “it fell into a state of disrepair,” said Davies. “And I always had my eye on it.”
The Blue Peter Pub in Sidney before it burned down in 2011.Now the waterfront property offers 200 climate-controlled lockers and 10,000 square feet of storage. Most of the units are between 25 and 50 square feet, but some are as large as 90 square feet. Harbour Haven Self Storage is in the heart of Sidney’s marine community and is prepared to host the countless paddleboards, e-bikes and overnight gear that boaters need.
“Just the little bit of advertising we’ve done has been very well received,” said Davies. “Today, guy just walked in here and he rented three lockers.”
With their own dock and reserved slips for boaters from other marinas, the Harbour Haven team is excited to cater to local boaters and residents of nearby islands who need access to Sidney’s amenities.
The plan wasn’t always storage. Originally there were four separate buildings designed for the space, but Davies said he just wasn’t sold on the idea. After running a feasibility study and finding that no other marine self-storage existed in the area, he knew the business had found its legs: “It just ticked all the boxes for me.”
The property also hosts several commercial storefronts still up for lease, as well as residential units on top. One of each has already been snatched up. Prime Yacht Systems will be selling high-end navigation equipment and other electronics for boaters.
“He’s the perfect guy to have in here. We’d also like to see marine insurance people or yacht brokers,” said Davies. “Anything to do with marine technology, equipment or training.”
There are just three commercial spaces left and with more developments coming to the neighbourhood Davies says now is the time to join the community.
